Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a standardized test been administered since 1988 to facilitate Business Schools (B-Schools) to screen candidates for admission to MBA and allied programmes. Govt. of India, Ministry of HRD approved MAT as a national level test in 2003. Any B-School – national or international – can consider MAT Score as an admission input based on the Score Cards issued to the candidates. The largest test of its kind in the nation.
Latest Updates on MAT 2022 (May Exam)
- The most important point to note about MAT 2022 (May) exam is that AIMA has scrapped the CBT-based MAT (May) exam 2022 at test centers, instead, there are two PBT exams and more than a week-long testing window is scheduled for IBT exams.
- MAT Exam Dates 2022 for the May exam are from May 15-29, 2022.
- The Registrations for MAT 2022 (May) exam are currently open.
- MAT 2022 (May) exam for MBA admissions for the year 2022-24 is being conducted in two testing modes – Paper-Based and Internet-Based modes.
- Two PBT MAT exams are scheduled for May MAT 2022.
- Please note that no CBT MAT is scheduled for May MAT 2022.

This year, MAT IBT Exam 2022 is scheduled in a longer testing window from May 14 to 29, 2022 with two separate sessions on each day. There will be different closing dates for AIMA MAT May 2022 IBT mode registrations for each MAT IBT Exam.

MAT PBT Mode Exam Dates:
AIMA after scrapping the CBT mode MAT exam has scheduled two MAT 2022 May exams in paper-based modes i.e. PBT-1 and PBT-2 on 15th May 2022 and 28th May 2022 respectively. The exam will be conducted in a single session on each day and will remain of moderate difficulty level.

MBA aspirants willing to appear in MAT (May) exam can apply for one or two MAT 2022 exams by paying the requisite registration fee. The application fee to apply for one MAT 2022 exam is Rs. 1650/- and for two MAT 2022 exams the application fee is Rs. 2750/-.

MAT 2022 (May) Exam: Testing Modes & Key Difference
This time, AIMA is conducting May MAT 2022 in two testing modes i.e. IBT and PBT.
- Remote Proctored Internet-Based Test (IBT): You can appear in IBT MAT from your home
- Paper-Based Test (PBT): Paper Pen-based MAT 2022 exam is conducted at test centres.
- No CBT mode test: Please note that for May MAT 2022, AIMA has scrapped the Computer Based Test (CBT) which is conducted at test centres.

List of Participating Institutes in MAT Exam
Most top B-schools accept MAT scores while enrolling candidates for their MBA/PGDM programmes. However, it is essential to know which MBA colleges accept MAT scores. Hence, candidates are advised to confirm if their shortlisted B-schools accept MAT scores or not. Another important point to remember is that you need to apply to those MBA colleges as well. Merely appearing in the MAT exam will not ensure admissions to any of the B-schools.

Downloading the admit cards:
All provisionally registered candidates for IBT/PBT have to download their Admit Card from the AIMA website https://mat.aima.in referring to the schedule.
The Admit Card should contain the Candidate’s Name, Form No, Roll No, Test Date, Test Time, and Test Venue Address. A candidate has to strictly follow the date and time allotted to him/her on the admit card.

How to Register for MAT 2022 (May) Exam:
Here is a step-by-step guideline for MAT aspirants to register for the MAT 2022 (May) Exam:
STEP 1: Create a login
- New Candidates have to visit the official AIMA website: https://mat.aima.in and click on the Register button.
- Fill in the details to create a log-in. You must have a valid email ID and mobile number for applying online to receive the OTP for email ID and mobile number verification.
- Press the button “Submit”, an OTP will be sent to your email id; enter the OTP in the space provided and click on the button “Verify & Submit” to create your Login.
- The confirmation message for the New Login created will be sent to your email. Note: Kindly note the Email-ID, Date of birth, and Password as filled by you will be used to log in to the website to fill out the online registration.
Essential documents to be made ready:
Before starting to fill up the MAT registration form, keep ready with you the following details/documents/Information
- Valid Email ID (the email should remain valid for at least 1 year)
- Image of scanned photograph in jpg/jpeg format. File size should not be less than 10 KB and more than50KB
- Image of scanned signature in jpg/jpeg format. File size should not be less than 5KB and more than 20KB
- Debit /Credit Card/Net Banking/Paytm Wallet details
- Personal details
- Educational qualification details
STEP 2: Already Logged in Candidates have to log in to their account to complete the registration process
- Already logged in candidate to visit the website: https://mat.aima.in and log in by clicking on the “Login” button
- Enter your registered email, password, date of birth and click on the “Submit” button.
STEP 3: Make Payment
- Select exam mode, test city choices, payment mode, and process the payment by clicking on the “Save &Next” button
NOTE: Payment of registration fee can be made through Debit/Credit Card/Net Banking/Wallet or UPI.
STEP 4: Upload Photo and Signature Upload Photograph
The Photograph must be a recent passport size color photo. Make sure that the colored photo is taken against a light-colored, preferably white background, and has no harsh shadows. If you wear glasses, make sure that there are no reflections and your eyes are seen. Also, ensure that both ears are visible in the photo. Caps, hats, and dark glasses are not acceptable in the photograph. Religious headwear is allowed but it must not cover your face. The photo image file should only be in .jpg or .jpeg format. The size of the file should not be less than 10KB and morethan50KB. Upload Signature – Sign on white paper with a Black ink pen and scan it. Please scan the signature area only and not the entire page. Please note that this signature would appear on the admit card, and if it does not match the signature on the answer sheet at the time of the written test and at the time of the Interview, the candidature will be canceled. The image should only be in .jpg or .jpeg format. The size of the file should not be less than 5KB and more than 20KB.
STEP 5 – 8: Fill Personal Particulars, Qualification & Experiences, and Choices for Management Institutes(MI)
- Fill in the details on the online registration form. Since your eligibility will be screened based on the information furnished by you, you are required to exercise sufficient care to correctly furnish your details, your Qualification details, etc.
- Candidates opting for Double IBT will have the benefit of selecting an additional 2 MIs for sending their scores in addition to the existing option of selecting 5 MIs i.e. they can select 7 MIs in total.
- While filling out the registration form, please save the information by clicking on the button “SAVE”.
- In case you wish to edit any information, log in again using the same Email‐ID, Date of Birth, and Password. After editing the information, ensure to save it by clicking the button “SAVE”.
STEP 9: View/Download Registration form Candidates can view the form after making payment and can take a printout of the same for their record.
