NIRF at a Glance: An Overview
The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) gained approval from the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) in the past and was officially launched by the Honourable Minister of Human Resource Development, now under the Ministry of Education, on September 29, 2015.
Understanding the NIRF Framework
NIRF presents a structured methodology for evaluating and ranking institutions across the nation. This method is built upon the insights and recommendations of a Core Committee appointed by the Ministry of Education. The parameters encompass key areas such as “Teaching, Learning, and Resources,” “Research and Professional Practices,” “Graduation Outcomes,” “Outreach and Inclusivity,” and “Perception.”
The inaugural NIRF India Rankings were introduced on April 4, 2016, marking the beginning of an annual tradition that provides valuable insights and guidance to the academic community, prospective students, and educational stakeholders across India. These rankings serve as a vital resource, aiding in the assessment and selection of educational institutions and universities, as well as promoting healthy competition and continuous improvement in the Indian education landscape.
